The best place to start any discussion about firearms, in my opinion, is by saying that the very best firearm brand, calibre and model in the entire world is the one that is loaded and in your hand when someone is shooting at you. I like Glock, I like Sig, I like HK, I like most of them.
I chose to carry a Glock for both my Plainclothes Concealed Duty Weapon as well as my Uniform Duty Weapon. They are workhorses, inexpensive, and you won't have a hard time finding a good work hoster for a Glock. You won't have a hard time finding someone to fix your Glock or parts for your Glock, mags for your Glock, and so on. Glock works great, I am accurate with both models I use for work and I have not heard a good arguement yet for switching.
I choose the Glock 43x MOS for my plainclothes concealed carry duty weapon. I have added a Holosun 507K red dot optic and a Streamilght TLR-7 Sub for my onboard light. I use Speer Gold Dot 124grain +p ammunition simply because its a commonly used ammunition for Law Enforcement agencies in the USA. I do that in anticipation of being challenged in a civil lawsuit by a lawyer trying to prove I was irresponsible by choosing any other kind of ammunition.
If I choose the same ammunition as most law enforcement agencies then that speaks to my level of responsibility in conciously choosing a proven ammunition vetted by balistics experts. If I do my own research and choose something else, and I am asked to prove my credentials as a ballistics expert, I can easily be proven not to be and discredited, or worse, succeed in painting me to a jury that I am not a qualified expert and, therefore, irresponsible in making the choise in ammunition that I did.
I am not saying that will happen, but it is certainly possible. So to eliminate that possibility I choose a duty ammunition that is commonly used by law enforecement agencies across the country.
The holster I finally settled on, and there is a black plastic bin in my garage filled with various holsters, mag carriers, and what not; is the Photon inside the waistband holster from Alien Gear. I choose to appendix carry and the Photon is a very comfortable holster that does not print at all when I appendix carry.
The stock magazines that come with this pistol are only 10 rounds but Sheild arms sells a 15 round magazine that fits and functions perfectly for the Glock 43X.
