Easter Threats Widespread - High Security Alert
Easter is a Holy Time for those that believe in Jesus Christ, and that belief has made churches and Christians a target for increasingly frequent violent attacks in recent years. This weekend, as much of the world prepares to remember and honor the crucifiction and resurrection of Jesus Christ this Easter Weekend, security forces around the world are on high alert.
French national security forces have gone on the highest level of alert and will have guards posted at every church throughout France this weekend. The Sri Lankan government is also dramatically boosting armed security around christian churches in their country. The same is happening in Indonesia, Jerusalem, and countless other countries around the world and around the United States.
Just over a month ago (we did a story on this), FBI director Christopher Wray told over 3300 Sheriffs that the level of “red flag” traffic they are experiencing right now is far greater than they experienced the weeks prior to the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center. He also advised that the activity is so widespread that National Guard and Military support may be too busy to help local Sheriffs’ departments so they should be prepared to handle any attacks or civil unrest on their own.
For those of you that protect places of worship, this should be an all-hands-on-deck weekend and for those of you that don’t but would like to be of help if needed, attend any local church and be that extra set of eyes and ears ready to respond if needed.
If you are visiting just to be of help, ask someone who is responsible for the safety or security team and introduce yourself to them. Let them know where you will be seated, what your capabilities are (armed, medical training, etc) and let them know you are there if needed.
We pray nothing happens, but if it does, I pray all of you are safe, capable, and effective.
